Welcome back. Last time you sent the October reminder and agreed to follow up on the open invoice. Want me to draft that, in Dutch and short as usual?
Yes. And from now on invoices go out on the 1st.

How it works

Connect once. Every chat already knows you.

Alter Ego is a connector. You add one URL, pick where the memory lives, and your assistant reads and writes it as it works.

Add the connector

Paste one URL into Claude as a custom connector, or into any MCP client that supports remote servers.

Pick your storage

Sign in with OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, GitHub or Azure DevOps. The memory lives in a folder or repository of yours.

Just keep chatting

At the start of a chat the assistant calls start. From there it remembers, logs and picks up where you left off.

What it remembers

Not a black box. A folder you can read.

Everything is a plain text file in a structure that makes sense to a person and to an AI.

RRules

Say it once, it sticks.

How you want answers: language, tone, what never to do. Every new chat starts with them already loaded.

PProfile

Who you are.

Role, projects, preferences. No more explaining yourself to a blank chat.

CContexts

One folder per client, project or topic.

Each with a README and a journal. Open one and the assistant is instantly up to speed.

JJournals

One line per piece of work, per day.

After real work the assistant logs what happened. Next week, any chat can read it back.

BPlaybooks

Routines your assistant can follow step by step.

Write down how you do a weekly review or a release once. Any chat can run it the same way.

Pick the place you already trust. Alter Ego only reaches the folder or repository it needs.

Google Drive

Folder: Alter Ego

The app only sees the folder it creates, nothing else in your Drive.

Dropbox

Apps/Alter Ego

The app only reaches its own folder.

GitHub

A repository you pick

Every change is a commit, so you get history and review for free.

Azure DevOps

A Git repository

Every change is a commit. Use the default alter-ego or pick your own.

Already keep an agent-context repository with preferences.md, clients/ and projects/? It works as is.

Privacy first

We do not keep your content.

Alter Ego passes your files through memory only while a tool runs. What you write is never stored on our server.

  • Your files stay with you. Plain, readable files in your own storage. Read, edit or delete them any time.
  • Small footprint. The server keeps only sign-in state, with provider tokens encrypted at rest.
  • No cookies, no trackers. This website uses no analytics and loads nothing from third parties.

You are in control

Leave any time, keep everything.

Because the memory is just files in your storage, there is no export step and no lock-in. Disconnect the connector and your files are still yours.

  • Revoke access at your storage provider whenever you like. The docs show where.
  • Every change is visible. With GitHub and Azure DevOps each change is a commit.
  • Works with the tools you use. Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients share the same memory.

FAQ

Good questions.

What is Alter Ego, exactly?

A remote MCP connector. It adds a small set of tools to your AI chat so it can load your rules and profile, open a client or project, log work and remember things, all as files in your own storage.

Where is my data stored?

In the storage you choose: OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, GitHub or Azure DevOps. The server does not keep your content, only the sign-in state it needs to work.

Does it work with ChatGPT?

Alter Ego speaks MCP, so it can be used with other MCP clients such as ChatGPT where they support remote connectors. Claude is the main target. Menus and availability depend on the client.

Can I read and edit the files myself?

Yes. They are plain Markdown and text files. Open them in your storage, or in the repository for GitHub and Azure DevOps.

What if I already have an agent-context repository?

It works as is. Alter Ego reads preferences.md, identity.md, clients/, projects/ and skills/. See the docs.

How do I stop it?

Remove the connector in your AI client and revoke access at your storage provider. Your files stay where they are. Steps are in the docs.
